update 26.01.2012

 New Years Eve!
Was probably the best NYE I've ever had! It was at Oliver and Milena's place. A fireplace, couches, bar, food, dance floor, around 50 people at the most and a DJ. It was SO much fun! I danced almost all night! As I knew, Anna was going to be there with her hostparents as well, but we also met a girl from Denmark, Nadia! We looked like Charlies Angels and we all had so much fun together! We came home around 6 in the morning. It was a good party for everybody!

13.01.2012 Signmark
Anna and I went to town, to Nakumatt Lifestyle to watch Signmark. The first and maybe only deaf rapper in the world, and he is from Finland. It was fun and interesting to see something different. Though Anna and I felt very different, because about 80% of the people watching were deaf!

 16.01.2012 Mogra Rescue Center
Anna has some contact at a orphanage, where she is going to volunteer twice a week at the home and the school. The first time she went there, I followed her just to see. But suddenly I had said yes to help as well, but in the "raising money" and website department! Well well, I've been raising money a couple of times before, but website.... haha maybe they want a blog?
If you want to help, please do! They need money for the 96 children living there, the teachers teaching them, for FOOD, clothes and everything else. They were also talking about having sponsors. So if you want to sponsor a child i Kenya, contact me!

haha gotta love my double-chin <3

 20.01.2012 Ongata Rongai

Okey so I had to wake up EARLY Friday morning, to go to town with a matatu, find Anna, walk like 2 km to another bus-stage, and then take a new matatu. Well, we ended up in Ongata Rongai.
It's very different from what we see daily! It's a poor area and you rarely see a white person, a mzungu (and may I remind you it was Anna's first time there). So, the school Finken Education Center is located in the slum (the school which my previous school has contact to, and the same school that I, along other fellow studens collected money for). Because I had been there before and walked the same road many times, I (almost) remembered after nearly a years time! It was kind of a surprise when I walked in! It was lovely to see the same faces again! And even some new ones as well. We stayed and talked, had a look in the classes. We also said hello to the school next to, that is for small children. The kids even remembered my name. Now THAT is touching!

Everything else
Here's a short version of some the other days! 04.01.2012 - The mitumba with Anna. Later I went out with Nadia, Phillip, Anna and Zabih.
07.01.2012 - Out with Anna and Alex.
08.01.2012 - Sarah, Sasha, Kiri, Marley and I went to the UN pool the whole day.
10.01.2012 - Kiri and Marley started school.
18.01.2012 - Met Anna in town for lunch.
21.01.2012 - Went to the Rugby club. That was so fun!

And all the other days have been chilling at home, eating out, walking/running, being with the kids, birthday parties for the kids and yeah the usual!

I will try to update soon (I always say that), but really. It's not fun trying to remember and describe everything, for like 4 weeks!

So, lala salama my friends!

xoxo

update y'all !

Hi and sorry for the bad update. hehe

Okey so Monday 19th the kids had play dates, so there were a lot of kids hanging around in the garden. I went for a walk in the neighborhood and I think that's it. haha!

Tuesday I hang out with the kids, dancing and making bangles.

Wednesday I met up with Anna at Westgate, chatted, shopped for Christmas and simply just had fun!

Thursday I went with Sarah to Village Market. She got her nails done, while I got some lunch and had a look around in the shops. We later went to the Sarit Center to buy some things for Christmas.

Friday Sarah had something to do, so I went a long, had some lunch at ABC Java House. I later went to Anna's place. We had some white wine, listen to music and got ourselves ready for a night our! Our taxi came to pick us and we headed for a restaurant. We ended up eating at Southern Sun.. mmm sooo good food!! We both had some Mexican inspired food, like nachos and burritos. LOVE IT! Well, we call our taxi guy and then drove to Psys in Langata, where Klaudine and Chris where waiting with some of their friends. A very local place, me and Anna where like lighting up the room, haha! But it was nice to see something different! Anna, Klaudine, her boyfriend and I headed of for Karen. At the Blix Lounge. A nice place. We had a drink then headed of for another place called Volar! Both Anna and I loved that place, but it was expensive! Nice music, but like nobody danced but two "cool" guys. So of course as the party animals that we are, we took over the dance floor! Hahaha! Me and Anna then went to Black Diamond, our favorite place. Had some drinks there and danced until closingtime! We even got dance tips from some Africans. You know, they can really move here! Then called a taxi and went home. I got home at 6am.

Saturday, 24th, Christmas.

In Kenya they celebrate Christmas the 25th, but we did it the 24th.

When I got up I skyped with my family in Sweden. Dad walking around with his phone with me saying hi to everybody. My little brother even opened the few presents I got, while I was watching it over the computer. I later did the same thing but with my mom and that side of the family. They were in Budapest, with some relatives. Then it was time for dinner at Majda's (Sasha's mom) place. Sasha, Sarah, Marley, Kiri, Majda, Branchie (Sasha's brother) and me. It was some Danish food mixed with Slovenian food and yeah, I have no idea. But it was good. After that we all had to hide in a room while "Santa Claus" was putting the presents under the three. And then the kids opened all their present, and than later us adults. We had desert (Ris'a'la'mandel) and some drinks, and then we headed home. Not far away, because Majsa lives right next to us.

Oh yeah, I got money, a Guns'n'Roses t-shirt, a necklace and tickets for a Black Sabbath concert in May (couldn't be better).

Sunday was just relaxing day. We had leftovers, some drinks and just chatted while the kids where playing with all their new toys.

Monday we went to Sasha's dad's place. All (almost) of the big Ng'inja family was there. Very nice time. Nice food and nice people. Some chocking news though. We spent all day there.

Tuesday I was supposed to meet up with some of Sasha's sisters (Anchie and Lina) for some drinks, but it got canceled. To bad! And even Anna and her "family" went for safari at the Mara (Masai Mara). Wish it was me! AND it was Sarah's first day at her new job, UNICEF Somalia!

Wednesday it was supposed to be some pizza/wine time at Anchie's place, at the pool, but the weather was not good and Anchie had some other plans. But I met up with Lina and we went to town, meaning Nairobi city. We then went to the Junction, Lina had to find some sandals and so she did! We then went to Brew Bistro & Lounge to meet up with her boyfriend and his friend. We had some beers and I even had a Captain Morgan. We then went home and I watched some episodes of SoA.

Today has been a soft day. Sarah's has been home lying in bed, she is not feeling well. I have been doing some laundry and tidied up my room, the kids had a friend over, so I spend some time with them in the garden and now I'm eating chips (french fries) with ketchup and chilisauce. Exciting yeah?

Tomorrow I'm meeting with Anna for some New Years Eve shopping etc.

Sooo, talk to you later!

the end of the week

Hi folks.

Friday we all ate at Que Pasa in Karen, had some drinks (it felt like home there, because of all the young Swedish girls dancing), then moved on to a club named Gypsy. Anna and I decided to move on to Black Diamond. Such a nice place! There was a guy who bought a bottle of champagne for us, to celebrate new year.. A little early were our opinion. Well, we had drinks, danced and met a lot of new people . I came home around 5. WHAT A NIGHT. I had so much fun, the best night out in a looooong time! Thank you Anna and the others for the nice company.
Yesterday the day was spent at a café, Sarah and Sasha working, and me just chilling. Later, I just watched some movies.
Today we have been to a colleague of Sarah from Sweden. Like celebrating Christmas and so on. Quite nice. Now I'm just sitting here, in my bed. I have a date on skype later with mom etc.
So, talk to you tomorrow maybe!

xoxo

thursday, oh sunny thursday

Hi!
Today I watched some episodes of "Sons of Anarchy", if you never have watched this, DO IT! (Thank you Aldina, for mentioning it to me!)
Hatim, Sarah's brother came today and is going to stay until Sunday.
I ate lunch with the kids and then played in the garden with them. Marley fell asleep while he was on the swing, me pushing him, so we went inside. He rested and Kiri and I danced, fixed our nails and some other girly stuff.
We then went to Mathias (Marley and Kiri's friend) for a playdate. I went along, just so I could swim (they have the biggest pool) and lie in the sun.
We headed back and I listened to Ben, our guard, sing. He is writing songs and hopes for a record some day. We then ate dinner and now I'm lying in bed, watching telly. *tired*

Tomorrow Sasha, Sarah and I are going out for dinner with their friends and their "au-pair" Anna from Finland. Later she and I are going out to party! yeaaaah

Talk to you some other day!

xoxo

Sawa?

The kids loves when they can wear my bandana as an pirate
Hi guys!
Sorry again, but now the Internet at home works again!

I will try to remember the main things that I have done since last time I wrote!

So well, Friday:
I woke up and decided to do something besides being at home, so Chris drove me to Westgate mall where I ate an ice cream at Planet Yoghurt and just took a look at the shops. I bought three new books.. Michael Jackson: Moonwalk, a Feng Shui book and a Astrology book! When I got back home the kids had some friends over for playdates. I played a bit with them in the garden, but then I went with Chris to pick up Sarah. We later got home, changed our clothes and headed of to a restaurant called Zen Garden. It was Sarah, her brother Hatim, his friend Francis and his girlfriend. From there we drove to Vineyard, had some drinks, the guys played poker and I could listen to some rock (a rareness here). From there we went to Samar and Abdullahs place had some more drinks and later went to some clubs. Sarah got the news that she got a new job and therefor she was in an extra good mood! So lovely! We danced and had a lot of fun! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but there will be some more nights like that.

Saturday Sarah and I went to the Scandinavia Christmas Bazaar at the Swedish School Nairobi. I helped out at the Swedish stand, selling Glögg, godis (candy), Kalles kaviar and other Swedish things.
Later we got home, Sasha got home from South Africa and Hatim was gone as fast as he got here.

Playdates, out on the trampoline
Company in the bedroom, a little Gecko who is living in my wall I think
I bought some Ahlgrens bilar. mmmm
Sunday we had dinner at Pontus and Julias. Very nice dinner, nice people and an AWESOME house. Gosh, I just love it! Big, cozy and just the way I like it.

This week the weather has been crazy. Raining, sunshine, cold, hot. Though, mostly rain.
Monday Sarah and I went to the doctor with Kiri and Marley. They got some medicine and have to take it for some days.
Tuesday Sarah, Kiri and I drove to the Sarit Center to buy some things for the kids.
Wednesday Sarah and I went to Westgate just for a look in the shops. I bought a bikini. Purple. I love purple.

Thursday and the fifth day of no Internet at home, so Chris drove me to Westgate. I could finally chat woth my friends at the café "Artcaffe". I also took the chance, and bought a pizza.
Today, Friday I went to pick up Sarah at work and then we drove to Village Market. We sat down at a café with our laptops and ordered some food. We went home, changed clothes and headed to Jennie's place (an old colleague of Sarah). She just moved in to her apartment, so it was a housewarming. I met a lot of different people and nationalities. Love it. I met two people, Chris and Klaudine, who promised to show me the real Nairobi, meaning the nightlife!

Now, I want to go to sleep. So talk to you some other day.

Peace out.
